Firefox is a free and open-source web browser developed by Mozilla. Packaging it for corporate deployment can be something of a headache.

Too many organisations deploy the standard release of Firefox, blissfully unaware that there is a stable corporate edition made for deployment. This is known as Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release).

The version numbers are generally behind the standard version, as by nature it has a longer release cycle. So be prepared to explain when asked (because you will get asked many, many times) that it is the latest version and has the same bug fixes your security guy is concerned about. For more information on how the versioning works, Mozilla has a handy diagram.

Many engineers are also unaware that Mozilla are now releasing Firefox ESR in MSI format. Here's how to get it.

Visit mozilla.org and use the drop-down options to select the version/architecture/MSI you want.

Add customisations via a Transform (.mst) file and your golden. For some examples see here.
